dancing bear

Hello beautiful people!
Are you watching the Oscars tonight? I'm going to go to Morgan's and watch it on his big screen tv. I love watching these types of shows in high definition. You can see every little detail on their faces! It really is like you are right there.

It snowed again here. Just when I started to feel like Spring was in the air. The Spring weather inspired "the dancing bear". Actually it looks like Miss Babushka is doing all the dancing and Mr. Bear is just swaying to the music. Isn't that always how men dance? :)

Okay I'm off to watch the Oscars.
Hugs to all!
"The dancing bear" is up for grabs on ebay

Happy Valentine's day...and a contest!

Happy Valentine's day all you LOVE BUGS out there!
I thought I'd make a pair of earrings as a give-away for this special day of LOVE.
These earrings are made with heart shaped beads on sterling silver ear hooks. Fun for all year round!

Okay, I'm gonna make you WORK for this contest. Here are the rules:
See this little picture:

This picture is a small snippet from one of my prints. What you have to do is guess what print it is from. It is a print that is currently in my etsy shop. You get only one guess. The first person to get it right going down the list of comments is the winner! So you have to be the FIRST ONE to get it right. You only get ONE chance. Please post the title of the print (example:POCKET MIRROR bunny forest from original painting by Tascha) by cutting and pasting the title and posting it in the comments here. I will announce the winner tomorrow night. So be quick if you want to be the first one to get it right!
good luck!
I'm keeping everyone's answers hidden until tomorrow night. That will build the suspense :)

The first painting I sold on ebay

I wanted to share with you the story of my first painting sold on ebay. It was back in 2001, and I was selling my handcrafted jewelry here in toronto. I decided I would try selling it on ebay also. I did, and it was going along fine. Then one day, I stumbled upon the art section. It was so new back then. There wasn't even a name for it. I remember it was just under "antiques and art". There was no "self representing" or "direct from artist" back then. I think ebay thought of art as in" old antique paintings". There were just a handful of artists selling their own paintings on there at the time. Sitting at my computer, I looked up on the wall and saw the painting I had done a year before of my cat bailey. It was just an experimental piece, and at the time I wasn't too attached to it. So for fun, I listed it! Here is a picture of the painting:

It sold, and I thought to myself...maybe I should paint more and do less jewelry making. So I did. I used my cat Bailey as my inspiration and made many paintings based off of her daily activities. Here is a picture of Bailey:

Bailey was like my business partner. She gave me the ideas, and I would paint them. She was very special to me. Then in 2003 she was diagnosed with diabetes. I devoted my time to taking care of her while still painting. I gave her insulin injections every 12 hours, everyday. She passed away in 2006. It was one of the hardest things I had to go though.

Fast forward to 2007. I was in an Apple store and went over to the computers they have hooked up to the internet. I wanted to check on how my auctions were doing. Instead of going into my account, I simply typed in "TASCHA ART" to do a quick search for them. To my surprise listed on ebay was the first painting I ever sold! The one of Bailey was up for auction! I could actually get it back!!! This was 6 years later folks! Can you believe it! I won it, and it is proudly hung back up on my wall. It is a great tribute to Bailey.
Here is a very small sample of some of the paintings inspired by bailey

Got the shorty coat :)

Hey y'all! I'm back from the Post office/mall. I go to the post office so much my name should be "tascha - post office - parkinson"! I don't even want to know how many hours total in a year I spend standing in line! I bet it would add up to a week!
So, I was on my way to get the shorty coat from H&M, when I saw this cute shorty coat at Old Navy:

(It looks much cuter in real life)
Anyway, I was SO WISHING my blogger friends were with me to tell me if they thought I should get the red one from Old Navy instead of the Grey one from H&M! You guys need to come up here and go shopping with me!
But I kept on going right to H&M and got the grey one!
YAY!
Now that I have my shopping mojo in an uproar, I want to show you this cabinet from the Pottery Barn:

I love it!!!! They aren't all real drawers though. Only the top drawers are real drawers, the rest are attached to two large swinging doors.(P.S. this is two of these cabinets lined up together)
I love it! So if you happen to see it ever go on sale let me know! I will pop into the store now and then to check. I just might get it .... but only if it goes on sale.
HUGS for now!

Frida Bookmark

First off, you guys are awesome! Can you come shopping with me in real life? We'd have so much fun!
Thank you so much for your help on the jacket. Looks like I should get it. I guess I could wear it with jeans, or dress it up with a skirt. I will go out tomorrow and see if it is still there.
They had it in a purple speckled pattern also, but it wasn't as nice. I hope that it is still there :)

I have a new Frida bookmark available at my etsy shop.
The colors will make you smile!

Okay, I will let you know tomorrow if I get the jacket.
HUGS!

Pretend you went to the mall with me

I want your help on if I should buy a little jacket I saw today at the mall.
This is how today is going. I had to pack up some packages and go to the post office (which happens to be at the mall :) )
I knew Chief Ramsay from the tv show Hell's Kitchen was going to be there today signing books. I couldn't get there in time for the book signing. But I did snap a couple of pictures of him:
Hell's Kitchen is the only reality show Morgan will watch with me. I can't get him to watch any others...like John and Kate plus Eight. So we were kind of excited to meet him. Morgan had to work, so I just took a few pictures to show him when he gets home tonight.
When he left and was going up the escalator, they played the show's theme song "FIRE". It made me happy.
Now, about this jacket. Pretend you are shopping with me. I found this sweet little shorty coat at H&M. It's about $40 and it matches my grey hair! LOL! I'm not sure if I should get it or not, so I'm asking you your opinion. I snapped this photo in the change room:

I really like it, I'm just not sure what I'd wear it with. They have a sale on for the rest of the week, so I have to make my mind up by Friday. What do you think?
HUGS!

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! It actually warmed up a smidge here in Toronto. The snow is melting! I hope it continues to and that spring is around the corner....wishful thinking!
Last night I made these two small mixed media pieces. They are created with cut out prints of my art and I painted the background. They are darling little 4x4 inch canvases with chunky sides! So cute!
They are up for grabs on ebay.
OH! and I have a new mirror design in my etsy shop! The bunny forest girl :)

I only have limited supplies of this mirror.
Have a great week!
Talk to you soon!
